1.     Name

Christie Miller

2.     What are you passionate about helping people do better?

I am passionate about helping other women believe in themselves and their ability to lose weight and feel good for life. Having struggled with my own weight, I know that excess pounds are not the issue and weight loss is not the answer. The excess weight is a symptom of a much deeper issue that must be addressed first.

I love seeing my winners (that’s what we call them at EatTrainWin!) begin embracing a self-love routine that is based on the fact that they matter, they are worthy, and they are enough! Self-love is a critical step in changing our relationship with food. When we truly love ourselves, we wouldn’t dare pollute our bodies with junk food, processed food and all the other garbage that is in the standard American diet.

Now, don’t get me wrong — I’m not about perfection. My goal is always 80% healthy and 20% not-so-healthy “Planned Indulgences.” Healthy living doesn’t require deprivation, ridiculous hours in the gym, or meditating on top of a mountain. It’s all about baby steps!

3.     What would you say is the secret to making more time for the things that really matter?

The best thing women can do is to ditch All-or-Nothing and her evil twin Perfectionism. These two are at the core of every failure, every bad feeling and every negative thought about our bodies, our lives and our future.

Nobody is perfect. And who would want to be? Can you say, “boring”? UGH! When we shoot for perfection, we are setting ourselves up for failure. It’s simply too high of a standard. It leads to shame which then leads to overeating and further mistreatment of our bodies.

Shoot for the B in everything in life and you may end up getting an A+ in the process. I teach my winners to celebrate every practical, achievable and sustainable change they make in their weight loss / healthy living journey. This is so much more fun that going for an A+ and feeling like a failure.

4.     If you could pull back the curtain for a sec what's something that we'd be surprised to learn about you?

This is a big one! I became a badge-wearing and gun-totting LA County Sheriff in my mid-40s because I was bored and wanted a challenge. I laugh when I think about passing the polygraph. I nearly choked when I was asked if I was into beastiality. Really?

During my short stint as a sheriff, I learned so much about the human spirit. And oddly enough, I liked many of the criminals much better than the female deputies. Something goes awry when you give an unstable person a badge and a gun.

5.     What's your next big thing?

In a few months, I am headed down to Cabo San Lucas to scope out sites for EatTrainWin’s 2017 retreat. Our clients have been asking for a retreat for years and it’s finally time to make it happen.
